Program Overview:

Get ready to explore the outdoors, build fitness, and have fun in the Lower Dauphin Youth Cross Country Program! This four-week program, designed for students in Grades 1–6, introduces young runners to the exciting world of cross country running through fun, team-based activities and outdoor adventures.

Each one-hour weekly session focuses on building confidence, improving running techniques, and encouraging teamwork. It’s all about exploring nature, making new friends, and developing a love for running—no experience necessary!  All of this culminates with the opportunity to run in the Lower Dauphin Race of Champions Youth Race held on Saturday, September 27, 2025.

What to Expect:

Warm-ups and dynamic stretches to get ready for the run

Trail or field runs adjusted to different skill levels

Exciting games and physical challenges to improve endurance

Team-building activities to foster a sense of community

Nature-based mindfulness and learning while on the move

Positive coaching that emphasizes effort, not competition

This program is perfect for students who love being outside, running, or simply want to try something new and fun. Whether they’re running for the first time or have been active for years, they'll enjoy learning in a safe, encouraging environment!

What to Bring: Comfortable running shoes, a water bottle, weather-appropriate clothes, and a positive attitude!
