Overview

 
At Lower Dauphin Middle School we strive to provide opportunities for all of our students to develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes to reach their potential as productive and responsible citizens, family members and lifelong learners. Our interscholastic sports program is one way we provide opportunities for our students to learn sportsmanship and the value of competition.
 
Boys' Basketball - (Grades 7-9) This competitive interscholastic league meets November through February, Monday through Saturday. Tryouts are held during the first week of practice. Basketball shoes are required; however, they should not be purchased until the tryouts have been completed.
 
Girls' Basketball - (Grades 7-9) This competitive interscholastic league meets November through February, Monday through Saturday. Tryouts are held during the first week of practice. Basketball shoes are required; however, they should not be purchased until the tryouts have been completed.
 
Field Hockey - (Grades 7-9) Interscholastic field hockey provides an opportunity for students to compete against teams from local school districts in the Mid-Penn League. Lower Dauphin sponsors a junior varsity and varsity team. Students may choose to participate in field hockey during the fall.
 
Football - (Grades 7-9) A school-sponsored interscholastic sport, football is for 8th graders and 7th graders who are not eligible for midget football as well as high school freshmen. Practice is held four days per week with games usually held on Wednesday. Practices begin at the end of August and continue through October. Students may ride the activity buses home. Football shoes are needed to participate.
 
Boys' Soccer - (Grades 7-9) Interscholastic boys’ soccer provides an opportunity for students to compete against teams from local school districts in the Mid-Penn League. Lower Dauphin sponsors both a varsity and junior varsity team. Boys’ soccer is held during the spring.
 
Girls' Soccer - (Grades 7-9) Interscholastic girls’ soccer provides an opportunity for students to compete against teams from local school districts in the Mid-Penn League. Lower Dauphin sponsors a varsity and junior varsity team. Girls’ soccer is held in the spring.
 
Track - (Grades 7-8) Interscholastic track provides students an opportunity to compete against teams from local school districts in the Mid-Penn League. Lower Dauphin sponsors a varsity team which consists of boys and girls. Track is held in the spring.
 
Wrestling - (Grades 7-9) Wrestling is a great entry level sport for any seventh-, eighth- and ninth-grade student who likes one-on-one competition. The Junior High level coaches stress basic technique, physical conditioning to help with competition, and, most importantly, having fun with new friends you have just met. All students are accepted in wrestling with a no-cut policy.
 
Ice Hockey, Club Sport - (Grades 5-9) Ice hockey provides an opportunity for students to compete against teams from local school districts in the Central Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League (CPIHL). It is an opportunity for players of all skill levels to start or continue development in this fast-paced  sport. They can continue their development in varsity or junior Vvarsity at the high school level. Equipment is not provided by the club.
