Meet Miss Lutzkanin

Meet Miss Lutzkanin

I am very excited to be starting my 11th year teaching 8th grade physical science at Lower Dauphin!  I was a long-term substitute for the 2014-2015 school year and was thrilled to find out I was going to be staying permanently on the blue team to teach science.

I am a Lower Dauphin graduate as well as a graduate of Penn State Harrisburg with my bachelor's degree in elementary education (K-6).  Upon my graduation, I was a long-term substitute at Nye Elementary where I taught kindergarten for a year.  I then day-to-day substituted throughout Lower Dauphin in every school, elementary to high school, teaching every grade and subject.  While substituting, I realized how much I enjoyed working with middle school students and received my middle school certifications in English and science.  Since discovering my new found interest in science, I have received my Master of Science in STEM Education degree from Lebanon Valley College in 2018.  I completed a Master of Education degree last school year, also from Lebanon Valley College.  With this degree, I have received a certificate in Online Teaching and Learning as well as a certificate in Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Wellness.

When I am not at school, I enjoy going to the beach or floating in the pool reading a book.  I also like to spend time with my family, exercise, cook, bake, and watch sports. My favorite teams are Penn State, Duke and all of the Philadelphia teams, especially the Flyers!  Throughout the school year, I also work at many of the high school sporting events at night, so you will see me at the turf field or high school gym (usually grading papers).  I am also excited about being able to help coach the junior high field hockey teams again this fall.  Go Falcons!
